Former Harvard President Larry Summers Calls The Winklevoss Twins “A**holes”

Larry Summers was the U.S. Secretary of Treasury under President Bill Clinton and served as the 27th President of Harvard University. Actor Douglas Urbanski played Summers in the hit movie “The Social Network. Those of you that have seen the movie will know that Summers dismissed Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss when they presented him with the case that Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg stole their idea. The real Larry Summers told his side of the story and he did not have kind words about the twins.

“Rarely, have I encountered such swagger, and I tried to respond in kind,” said Summers about the twins in an interview during Fortune’s Brainstorm Tech conference. “One of the things you learn as a college president is that if an undergraduate is wearing a tie and jacket on Thursday afternoon at three o’clock, there are two possibilities. One is that they’re looking for a job and have an interview; the other is that they are an a**hole. This was the latter case.”

The Winklevoss twins and their friend Divya Narendra took Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg to court in 2004. In between then and now, the twins made a settlement agreement but changed their minds. The change was made because the twins believed that Facebook duped them when providing the valuation figures of the company. The case almost went all the way to the Supreme Court.
