Sequoia Capital Invests $10 Million In Customizable Android Browser Dolphin

MoboTap, the company behind the Dolphin Browser, has raised $10 million in Series A funding in a round led by Sequoia Capital. Matrix Partners also participated in this round. Sequoia partner Kui Zhou will be joining the board of directors at MoboTap.

MoboTap launched the Dolphin browser 15 months ago. Dolphin has been downloaded 8 million times and they have about 4 million monthly active users. The Dolphin mobile browser can be customized in a way that is similar to Mozilla Firefox add-ons and Google Chrome extensions. There are currently over 50 add-ons available on the Dolphin browser. MoboTap will be using the funding to grow their team, building new partnerships, and to launch on other platforms.
