I Had Cancer: A New Social Network for Patients, Survivors & Friends
Squeaky Wheel Media has created a new social network designed for cancer patients, survivors and supportive friends and family, called I Had Cancer. The social network was founded by Mailet Lopez, Robert Boyle and Anthony Del Monte. TechCrunch reports that the site was created out of cancer survivor Lopez’s desire to create a blog of the same name, which then grew into the community network. The site uses mutual following like Facebook but with circles-like sorting like Google+, and allows users to search by categories like type of cancer or year diagnosed.
I Had Cancer has raised $750,000 in funding. The site is currently in invite-only beta.
