Chris Finke recently added a feature in the URL Fixer browser add-on that collected anonymous usage stats from users who opted in. The opt in allowed URL Fixer to collect data on how to improve URL typos. Finke now has 6 months of data and he summarized it.

It turns out that the most commonly typed domain in address bars is Facebook.com. The 9 websites following Facebook is Google, YouTube, Gmail, Twitter, Mail.Google.com, Yahoo.com, Hotmail.com, Amazon.com, and Reddit. The most popular TLD for typed domains is .com. The .org, .net, and .de domains follow after.

The domain name that benefits the most from typos is faceboook.com. Faceboook.com is a scam website that informs people that they are a “Facebook Winner.”
