IHS Inc. (NYSE:IHS) has announced an agreement to acquire geoscience software company Seismic Micro-Technology (SMT) for $500 million in cash. SMT has 171 employees and about 3,000 customers across the globe. IHS believes that this acquisition will increase their ability to offer geoscience software and data products to their customers.
