Topps Acquires Facebook Gift Card Provider GMG Entertainment

Topps is a company that is best known for producing and manufacturing trading cards. Now the company is expanding into the virtual goods market through the acquisition of GMG Entertainment. GMG Entertainment develops gift cards for various social networks including Facebook.

The gift cards made by GMG Entertainment are distributed at RadioShack, Best Buy, Target, GameStop, etc. Topps was acquired by Tornate Company and Madison Dearborn Partners in 2007. GMG CEO Rob Goldberg will become the general manager of the digital currency business at Topps. Goldberg will be reporting to Topps CEO Ryan O’Hara. GMG currently has 45 clients including the NFL and THQ.
