Facebook is building another major data center at their campus in Prineville, Oregon. Facebook will begin the construction in October. The facility will resemble the 300,000 square foot data center. The announcement was made by Facebook Data Center Manager Ken Patchett at the Prineville City Council meeting earlier this week.

“We believe the construction of the phased expansion of Building 2, and the operation of Building 1, staffing and supplying of the Prineville Data Center will continue to have a positive impact on the Crook County-Prineville economy,” stated Patchett.

Facebook now has 750 million users. When the company opened up their campus at Prineville, they were at about 350 million users. Facebook is also building a new data center in Rutherford County, North Carolina.

The new Prineville data center is expected to create about 450 construction jobs. Facebook will add about 10 full time jobs in Prineville. The company currently employs 54 full time employees in Prineville. The data center in Prineville has custom built servers, racks, and UPS units.
