Bloomberg reports that Apple may be considering bidding on Hulu. The online video service is currently being shopped to buyers, but Apple was not previously on the list of potential participants in the auction. Both companies have declined to comment on the rumor.
Affectiva is a start-up company that analyzes emotions to improve consumer experiences. Affectiva has raised $5.7 million in a second round of funding led by WPP and Myrian Capital. WPP and Myrian will have board member seats at Affectiva going forward.

The Space Shuttle is a launch system and orbital spacecraft that is operated by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) over the last thirty years (1981-2011). The Space Shuttle completed 135 missions. The Space Shuttle Atlantis performed the 135th launch. The Space Shuttle fleet delivered the Hubble Space Telescope, the International Space Station, and many satellites. At a development factory, a video has leaked of the Nokia N9 “Sea Ray” smartphone that is running on Windows Phone 7. The device boots up with the “7″ logo screen. DISH Network Corp. (NASDAQ:DISH) has revealed that they are planning to shut down 200 more Blockbuster retail stores. Now there are a total of 1,500 total Blockbuster stores open. This past April, DISH Network won an auction to acquire Blockbuster’s assets for $228 million in cash. The employees working at those 200 stores would be able to transfer to other stores. [BGR]
Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) bought out Pittsburgh Pattern Recognition, also known as PittPatt. PittPatt develops technology that recognizes faces in images and videos. The technology started being developed at the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute in the 1990s. PittPatt was formed in 2004.
Android has made some curious deal partnerships recently, one with teen clothing company Wet Seal and one with “HTC Airlines.” Consumers who buy certain HTC phones can receive a free round-trip flight from Germany to another European destination. Meanwhile, Wet Seal shoppers can try on jeans in a Wet Seal store and receive a redemption card for a free Android phone.
