WhiteHat Security is a security company that focuses on e-commerce solutions, financial companies, healthcare, etc. The company has announced that they have raised $8 million in funding from Investor Growth Capital (IGC).

LucidChart is a web based diagram application company that has raised $1 million in seed funding from 500 Startups, 2M Companies, K9 Ventures, and several angel investors. LucidChart plans on using the funding to create a desktop version of their application software.

IHS Inc. (NYSE:IHS) has announced an agreement to acquire geoscience software company Seismic Micro-Technology (SMT) for $500 million in cash. SMT has 171 employees and about 3,000 customers across the globe. IHS believes that this acquisition will increase their ability to offer geoscience software and data products to their customers. BrightWhistle is a customer and patient acquisition platform company that utilizes the Facebook Ads API and their own landing page optimization technology in order to lower custom acquisition costs for health care companies. BrightWhistle has raised $1.1 million in seed round of funding from Hamilton Ventures.

Taulia is an invoicing company that has raised $8.5 million in Series B funding led by DAG Ventures. Matrix Partners and Trinity Ventures also participated in this round. Taulia has now raised a total of $12 million in funding.

Topps is a company that is best known for producing and manufacturing trading cards. Now the company is expanding into the virtual goods market through the acquisition of GMG Entertainment. GMG Entertainment develops gift cards for various social networks including Facebook.

Facebook is suing a number of entities in a trademark infringement case that addresses owners of sites that are typos of Facebook’s domain. As Bill Hartzer and Elliot’s Blog report, Facebook is suing “typosquatters” like Cyber2Media, FB Promotions/Freebie Promos, YourTick and more (25 named defendants in total) who have registered typos of Facebook’s domain. The social network filed the suit with a request to get the entities to either be relieved of their rights to the typo domains or to transfer those domains into Facebook’s property, as well as compensation for damages.

Travelers in the US can now use Google’s new Hotel Finder to locate the right hotel for their needs. The service allows users to mark the area in which they wish to stay, and then compare hotels’ prices to their competitors. Hotel Finder users can also see photos of the hotels along with Google Places reviews and save a list of likely hotels.  As The Next Web notes, the service is still in its experimental stage.
