Social Web User Management Platform Company Janrain Raises $15.5 Million

Janrain is a service that allows users to log in to websites using their existing social network identities. Janrain has raised $15.5 million in funding in a round led by Emergence Capital Partners.

“We think the space we’re in, we’re just scratching the surface,” stated Janrain founder and CEO Larry Drebes in an interview with VentureBeat. Janrain plans on using the funding to hire people across the board and to ramp up their marketing. Janrain was founded in 2005 and has clients such as MTV, Dr. Pepper, Intel, Snapple, and Sears. Janrain’s total funding is $18.7 million. Other investors in Janrain include Anthem Venture Partners, DFJ Frontier, RPM Ventures, Tim Draper, and Larry Drebes. Janrain currently has 60 employees.

Janrain’s social login feature is called “Janrain Engage.” Janrain also has a product that scrapes and stores profile data in the cloud called “Janrain Capture.” Janrain has a single sign-on service for shared web properties called “Janrain Federate.”
