Rolling.fm Clones Turntable.fm with Some Differences
Former Googler Tim Zhou has created a clone of Turntable.fm called Rolling.fm as part of Tenka.com. The service acts almost exactly like Turntable and only looks a little different. The main difference, as Wired notes, is that the popular listening rooms in Rolling.fm tend to be targeted toward specific universities and colleges, where Turntable’s rooms are usually music genre-oriented.
There aren’t many people on Rolling.fm yet, which means there aren’t tons of rooms to choose from. Users who aren’t affiliated with any of the colleges listed might not find anything about the service worth using right now–my college doesn’t have a listening room right now and I didn’t see any rooms playing anything I really wanted to check out. But for students looking to make some college friends through music, Rolling.fm could definitely be a hit.
