William R. Hambrecht has left the Motorola Mobility Board of Directors, following the company’s recent acquisition by Google. TechCrunch reports that there are 9 members remaining on the board, but notes that Motorola’s board will be unnecessary once the deal with Google is finalized. Hambrecht is a banker and is the chairman and CEO of his own company WR Hambrecht + Co.

Hambrecht is also responsible for co-founding Hambrecht & Quist and the United Football League. He was on AOL’s board but left after AOL bought Huffington Post.
