Apple Wins The Injunction Of Samsung Galaxy Smartphones In Europe

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has hit Samsung pretty hard by having the Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, and Ace smartphones placed under a preliminary injunction that halts the sales of that device in 30 European countries. This ruling was made by a court in the Netherlands and is caused by a patent dispute between Apple and Samsung.
Samsung has until mid-October to stop the sales of phones that the court believes violate Apple’s patents, which details touch gestures sure as swiping between images in an image gallery. The grant injunction indicates that the court thinks Apple’s patent case against Samsung has merit.
Apple’s injunction does not cover the entire European Union since Apple failed to complete the full registration for some of its patents in countries such as Italy, Spain, and Greece.
This ruling does not cover the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet. For some reason Apple excluded the tablet from this injunction. Samsung has agreed to stop selling the Tab 10.1 in Australia until the patent dispute is resolved.
What makes this patent dispute awkward is that Samsung is one of Apple’s biggest suppliers. Some sort of fair resolution has to come out between both companies to keep them from having a falling out.
