Samsung Launching Its Own Version Of BBM Called ChatON

Samsung Electronics is launching a new service called ChatON. ChatON is a cross-platform mobile chatting service that is similar to RIM’s BBM service on BlackBerry devices. Samsung is expected to launch the service in September. The operating systems that ChatON is expected to work on include Bada, Android, iOS, and BlackBerry.

ChatON will have a web-based client that will allow people to use ChatON on PCs as well. ChatON will support one-to-one and group chats. ChatON will also support media, contact, and calendar sharing. When ChatON goes live, it will be available in 120 countries and 62 languages.
