Tim Cook, the new Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO, has sent out an e-mailed an update to employees saying that joining Apple was the best decision he has ever made. He also said that “Apple is not going to change.” Tim Cook is known for being aggressive in driving down the costs of Apple’s gadget prices and making deals with suppliers. Cook also filled in for Jobs when he was on medical leave:

According to StatCounter, StumbleUpon has surpassed Facebook in delivering social media referral traffic. Now StumbleUpon delivers half of all social media traffic in the U.S. This does not surprise me considering that StumbleUpon hit 25 billion clicks earlier this month on their Stumble button.
Rockstar Games, the company behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise, has released two of their greatest hit games for the Mac App Store. Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City have been put on the Mac App Store for $14.99 each. The original Grand Theft Auto III was released for the PlayStation 2 back in October 2001 and became available for Windows in May 2002. Then the Xbox got it in November 2003. Facebook has reconnected an 80-year old mother with the daughter she had to give away at birth when she was 17 years old. Helen Torres had given away her daughter for adoption when she was 17 years old in 1948. About 63 years later, she was reconnected with her daughter Christina.
Cinchcast, the company formerly known as BlogTalkRadio Inc., has raised $6 million in Series B funding. This round of funding was led by Guggenheim Partners. Cinchcast provides solutions to businesses and consumers for creating and monetizing audio content.
PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel is putting some of his wealth into an interesting cause. He has put $1.25 million in to create and promote floating micro-countries. Thiel made the investment through The Seasteading Institute.
The Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) Street View cameras have gone nautical to capture the Amazon rainforest. Google is also using bicycle cameras to capture the rainforest.
Capital New York is a year old news website that focuses on “how things work in New York.” The company has raised $1.7 million and is planning on increasing their staff as a result. The company hired three people from the Observer and Yahoo! News media reporter Joe Pompeo.
