Yelp Is Not Getting Out Of Daily Deals


Several publications are speculating whether Yelp. This was based on a rumor without substance. Yelp updated their company blog to confirm that they are staying in the daily deals market. Yelp wrote that it can be beneficial for businesses to sell daily deals to “connect online marketing to offline customers in the door.”

International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) has acquired i2, a company that develops analytic software for local and state governments. Corporate security departments and law enforcement agencies uses i2 software to discover illegal activity on operational data logs.

Dropbox Now Valued At About $4 Billion [RUMOR]


Cloud storage company Dropbox is now valued at about $4 billion according to a rumor. This is based on an investment round led by Index Ventures. Supposedly some venture capital firms even considered giving Dropbox an $8 billion valuation. Dropbox was founded by MIT graduates Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi as a Y Combinator startup. Dropbox’s 2010 revenue was estimated to be around $100 million. [TechCrunch]

Learn From Ashley McDowell’s Mistake And Not Buy An iPad From Shady People At A McDonald’s Parking Lot


Ashley McDowell was walking in a McDonald’s parking lot when two men approached her and asked her if she wanted to buy an iPad for $300. She had only $180 on hand, but they gave it to her any way. When she got home, she found out it was a block of wood with the Apple logo painted on the back and icons painted on the front.

Ford Motor Company and Zipcar Announces Partnership


Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) and Zipcar Inc (NASDAQ:ZIP) has announced a partnership where Ford will become Zipcar’s largest source for the company’s Zipcar University program. The Ford and Zipcar alliance will last two years and will reach students across 250 university campuses.

NFL Team Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hands Out iPads To 90 Players


The NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers has handed out iPads to each of the team’s 90 players as a new type of playbook. This is different from the massive amounts of printed out documents put together by each team for plays. The Buccaneers will be able to view the team playbook, refer to game footage, and review videos of their opponents on the iPad.

Documentary Eyeborg Filmmaker Rob Spence Uses Eye-Cam To Create Prosthetics Movie [VIDEO]


Rob Spence is a filmmaker who put a video camera in his skull to replace an eye that he lost in a shotgun incident. Rather than connecting the camera to his brain, he decided to use the bionic eye to be a “lifecaster.” The eye would record the feed to an external device. TomTom Announces Go Live 1535M Packed With Apps


TomTom has announced a new GPS device called the Go Live 1535M. The 1535M is arriving in October, which is considered “the world’s first portable navigation device with a suite of popular travel apps.” Apps built in to the GPS includes Yelp, Expedia, Twitter, and TripAdvisor. The GPS also has hands-free calling, real-time traffic information, fuel prices, weather forecasts, and local search.
