Apple’s VP of mobile advertising, Andy Miller, has decided to leave the company to become a partner at Highland Capital. Miller has been with Apple since early 2010.
Most pharmaceutical companies don’t let the general public post on their pages’ Facebook walls, and in fact didn’t join the social network until they were given permission to block those posts. Facebook is changing policies now, though, and forcing the companies to have open walls for Facebook users to post comments. The Washington Post reports that AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson have already shut down pages that they fear will not benefit from the open wall policy, as posts from users describing adverse side effects or negative experiences might hurt business or create legal difficulties.
StumbleUpon just launched a new feature that will allow users to Stumble through content-specific pages based on a keyword search. The Explore Box expands on StumbleUpon’s previous method of providing content based on a selection of about 500 topics. GigaOm reports that the feature will be added to StumbleUpon’s mobile apps but is currently only in the web app.
William R. Hambrecht has left the Motorola Mobility Board of Directors, following the company’s recent acquisition by Google. TechCrunch reports that there are 9 members remaining on the board, but notes that Motorola’s board will be unnecessary once the deal with Google is finalized. Hambrecht is a banker and is the chairman and CEO of his own company WR Hambrecht + Co.
Paul Ceglia is a man that used to live in New York, but now lives in Ireland that filed a lawsuit against Facebook. The lawsuit claims that Ceglia has a contract with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg from 2003 that entitled him to half or more in equity of the large social networking company. Zuckerberg claimed that the real contract was for computer consultant work on Ceglia’s “StreetFax” project and didn’t have anything to do with Facebook.
The Charlie Bit My Finger video has been watched all over the world over 400 million times. Now Gerber has earned the rights to use the video as a commercial for their new finger foods. Gerber added captions to the viral video and it hit over 200,000 views in a few weeks.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is rumored to start selling the next generation iPhone on Friday October 7th or October 14th. Since the pre-mass production is moving at a fast pace, it is more likely to start shipping on October 7th.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced 14 new XBox LIVE titles coming to the Windows Phone 7 operating system within the next few months. Microsoft made the announcement at the annual Gamescom conference in Cologne, Germany. Some other new features coming to Windows Phone 7 also include Avatar Awardables, game add-ons, parental controls, and fast async.
