The NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers has handed out iPads to each of the team’s 90 players as a new type of playbook. This is different from the massive amounts of printed out documents put together by each team for plays. The Buccaneers will be able to view the team playbook, refer to game footage, and review videos of their opponents on the iPad.

Rob Spence is a filmmaker who put a video camera in his skull to replace an eye that he lost in a shotgun incident. Rather than connecting the camera to his brain, he decided to use the bionic eye to be a “lifecaster.” The eye would record the feed to an external device. TomTom Announces Go Live 1535M Packed With Apps

TomTom has announced a new GPS device called the Go Live 1535M. The 1535M is arriving in October, which is considered “the world’s first portable navigation device with a suite of popular travel apps.” Apps built in to the GPS includes Yelp, Expedia, Twitter, and TripAdvisor. The GPS also has hands-free calling, real-time traffic information, fuel prices, weather forecasts, and local search. Samsung Electronics is launching a new service called ChatON. ChatON is a cross-platform mobile chatting service that is similar to RIM’s BBM service on BlackBerry devices. Samsung is expected to launch the service in September. The operating systems that ChatON is expected to work on include Bada, Android, iOS, and BlackBerry.

U.S. Justice Department Attempting To Block AT&T and T-Mobile Merger

The U.S. Justice Department has filed a lawsuit to block AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) to merge with T-Mobile. AT&T proposed a $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA. The Justice Department believes that the acquisition of T-Mobile would “substantially lessen competition.” The complaint was filed in a federal court in Washington. “AT&T’s elimination of T-Mobile as an independent, low- priced rival would remove a significant competitive force from the market,” stated the U.S. in a filing.
