Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has announced several improvements to the Google+ social network. They have integrated the Google+ search engine into the social network and added a “Hangouts” feature for mobile use and broadcasting.

In the Hangouts feature, up to 9 users can link up and chat through webcams. Hangouts is now available on smartphones with cameras and powered by Android. Hangouts for the Apple App Store is coming out soon on the Google+ app.

“Hangouts should keep pace with how you socialize in the real-world, so today we’re launching it on the one device that’s always by your side: your mobile phone,” stated Google SVP of engineering Vic Gundotra. The social network is now open to everybody. Previously Google+ was only open by invite-only. It is estimated that about 25 million users have joined since it started.
