Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has announced additional features to the SYNC telematics system. The enhancement allows drivers to listen to text messages while they are driving. The SYNC software upgrade is free and it will broaden the number of devices that are compatible with the hands-free text read-back SYNC feature.
While some people believe that this feature will make driving and interacting with people safer, Consumer Reports pointed out that this could be a problem instead. “Heated emotional exchanges, for example, can impose a greater cognitive load than, say chatting about the weather,” wrote Jim Travers of Consumer Reports. What are your thoughts? Do you think having your text messages to you while driving is safer or less safe? Let us know in the comments.
