Samsung Mobile Chief Says That Galaxy Nexus By-Passes Apple’s Patents
Samsung Mobile President Shin Jong-kyun has said that the Galaxy Nexus smartphone, the first device to run on Android Ice Cream Sandwich, has avoided using technology contained within Apple’s patents. “Now we will avoid everything we can and take patents very seriously,” said Jong-kyun.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) had successfully pushed for a sales ban of the Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet computer in Germany and Australia. “We will see if (the Galaxy Nexus) will be 100 percent free” from any lawsuits from Apple added Jong-kyun. Jong-kyun said that he does not see an end in sight in a patent war with Apple.
“I think it is just a start and (the lawsuits) will last for a considerable time,” said Jong-kyun. “I don’t think there is much gain (from lawsuits against Apple). What we are losing is the pride in our brand.” Samsung is pushing to have the iPhone 4S banned in seven countries. This article was written by Amit Chowdhry.
