Dag Kittlaus, co-founder and CEO of Siri, has stepped down from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Siri is best known for being integrated into the iPhone 4S.

Kittlaus was planning to leave Apple for a while and one of the reasons why is because his family lives in Chicago. Kittlaus also wanted to brainstorm new entrepreneurial ideas.

Kittlaus led speech recognition efforts for Apple since the company acquired Siri in April 2010. Kittlaus worked as Siri’s CEO since 2007.
