Apple Retail Stores To Start Allowing Self-Check Out For Accessories

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is planning to update their retail store iOS application to allow consumers to self-checkout for accessories and other items on the shelves. The items that were purchased through self-checkout will be charged to the customer’s iTunes Store account.

It is currently unclear what the next step is for people when they go through self-checkout for accessories. It is likely that the customer would need to show an e-mailed receipt to the Apple employee at the front of the store to confirm their purchases. High value items like iPhones, iPods, and Macs are kept in the stockroom at Apple retail stores so people that self-checkout for these items would have to be assisted to receive their item anyway.

Another rumor is that Apple is updating the Apple retail store app to allow you to have items purchased through Apple.com to be shipped to your local retail store. The app update would also allow you to send purchased items to different shipping addresses to make holiday shopping easier.
