SimpleGeo is a location-based service that provides the infrastructure and tools for implementing location elements into applications. Urban Airship, a company that helps companies build apps with push notifications and monitor analytics, has acquired SimpleGeo.

I’m assuming that Urban Airship will soon start offering the ability to add location-based services through their company. The acquisition is believed to be completely in stock that totals around $3.5 million in value. SimpleGeo raised about $10 million in venture capital. Urban Airship has raised $6.5 million. The acquisition was likely driven by the liquidity preference made by the latest investors round in SimpleGeo.
