There has been a 3 day disruption of BlackBerry services that spread to North America today. This has caused frustration to millions of BlackBerry users. RIM has advised their clients about an outage happening in the Americas and they are currently trying to restore services in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and India.

Sony has shut down their servers after hackers tried to gain unauthorized access to 93,000 user accounts. The hackers tried to go after Sony Online Entertainment, The PlayStation Network, and Sony Online Entertainment. Sony chief information security officer Philip Reitinger said “a massive set of sign-in IDs and passwords against our network database, [and while] the overwhelming majority of the pairs resulted in failed matching attempts.” The hackers did have some success.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has launched the Find My Friends App before the release of iOS 5. The Find My Friends App allows you to locate your contacts on a world map and share their locations.

Zynga recently concluded a news event called Zynga Unleashed. At Zynga Unleashed, the company announced “Project Z.” a social games service that is enabled by Facebook Connect. Players can reserve their gamer identity tags, known as zTags, through Project Z.

Mobile device management company Zenprise has raised $30 million in funding in a round led by Greylock Partners. Asheem Chandna of Greylock Partners will be joining Zenprise’s board of directors as a result of the funding. Below is the press release:

Cloud storage company Box.net has raised $81 million in Series D funding from Salesforce.com, SAP Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, New Enterprise Associates, Andreessen Horowitz, and Draper Fisher Jurvetson. Box.net has now raised a total of $162 million. This puts Box.net’s valuation at over $600 million.

Twittad CEO James Eliason stated in an interview that Twitter would drop a lawsuit filed against his company last month that sought to cancel Twittad’s registered trademark of the word “tweet.” Twittad is transferring its registered trademark of “tweet” to Twitter. Eliason declined to say whether Twitter paid their company or not and cited a confidentiality agreement between the companies.
