Apple Hires Yahoo!’s Head Of Data Center Operations, Scott Noteboom

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has hired Scott Noteboom, the head of Yahoo!’s data center operations. Noteboom worked at Yahoo! since 2005. Noteboom managed over 10x growth of Yahoo!’s data centers. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has signed a patent agreement with Compal Electronics. This is Microsoft’s 10th patent license agreement. Nine of those agreements was signed in the last 4 months.

Steve Jobs Biography Indicates Apple Is Going To Enter The Television Market

Walter Isaacson, the author of the new Steve Jobs biography, indicated that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may eventually start manufacturing television sets. Apple already sells a product called the Apple TV, but Jobs wanted to do more for the TV market.

Microsoft Holodesk Research Project Is Like Nothing You Have Ever Seen Before [VIDEO]

A demo video of Holodesk, a project of the Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) research arm has been revealed. Holodesk uses a natural user interface (NUI) and the research project was made at the Sensors and Devices group at Microsoft Research Cambridge. Holodesk allows you to manipulate 3D virtual images in your hands. Holodesk uses beam-splitters and a graphic processing algorithm that works together to create a life-like experience. Apple Releases First iPhone 4S Ad Featuring Siri [VIDEO]

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has released their first TV commercial that features the iPhone 4S and the Siri virtual assistant. The commercial features using Siri to look up Google Maps, how to tie a bow tie, check the weather, set up a location-based remind, play music, set up an alarm clock, and play a text message. Google Launching Redesign Of Gmail

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) is launching a new Gmail interface. The new theme will have an action bar that uses icons instead of text labels. Profile pictures will be placed next to e-mail messages and there will be a flexible layout that adapts to any windows size. Al Gore: Steve Jobs Is The Kind Of Guy That Comes Once Every 250 Years

When the former United States Vice President Al Gore took the stage at the AsiaD conference, he gave his opinion on Steve Jobs. As an Apple board member, Gore was able to spend a lot of time with Jobs. “There’s no one like Steve,” said Gore. “He’s the kind of guy that comes along once every 250 years. He was totally unique. So obviously his death is a terrible loss for the entire world. And we’ll all miss him. But his legacy lives on.”

Groupon Breaks Even In Q3 and Planning To Raise About $540 Million In IPO

Daily deals service Groupon has reported their Q3 results. “Gross billings” growth was strong and rose 24% sequentially to around $1.2 billion for the quarter. Revenue grew 9% sequentially to nearly $1.2 billion for the quarter. Cumulative customers continued to grow rapidly and hit 29.5 million. Free cash flow increased to $60 million for the quarter. Groupon broke even this quarter.
