Apple Recalling 1st Generation iPod Nanos

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has launched a recall program for the original iPod nano. The cause for the recall is a rare overheating problem. This is the first iPod Nano 1st generation recall in the United States. Apple recommends that people stop using their devices immediately and replace it with another model for free from Apple.

You can either file an online replacement form from Apple’s website. You will need to check your iPod Nano serial number to see if you are eligible. You can find the serial number at the back of the device. Also note that if you have a personalized unit, then you will not receive a personalized replacement.

You can also replace the device at the local Apple store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. All of the replacement units will be “warranted to be free from defects for 90 days from the date of service.”
