Microsoft Testing Out A Social Network Called Socl

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is internally testing out a social network on the website The name of the social network project is called Tulalip. Tulalip is described as a way to “Find what you need and Share what you know.” There is a log-in for both Facebook and Twitter.

The design looks very similar to Facebook with a three column layout. The navigation is on the left, there is a social feed in the middle, and there are invites and a “start a party” feature on the right. At the top is a large search box that asks you what you are searching for. When you are interested in something, you can add it as a tag on Socl. There is a video party feature that has YouTube support.

Socl is currently a research project so that it may not be released as a mainstream product. However rumor has it that Microsoft is getting close to the private testing period of this social network and will be rolling this out to a bigger audience in the near future.
