Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has added trending topics to the Google+ social network this past weekend. The Trends section is now appearing on the right-hand side of the page and has 10 items that are being discussed.

Trending Topics on Google+ only appears when performing a search. The reason why Trending Topics is not appearing on the Google+ homepage is because that space is being used for “Suggestions” and “Send Invitations.” Google+ is still growing their user-base so they are not ready to give up that space as of yet.

As of right now, Google has no plans to incorporate Google+ Trends into Google Search. Just like Twitter search, when you click on a specific trend, you will see Google+ status messages about that specific from everyone on Google+.
