Harvard Launches Startup Incubator i-lab

Harvard University has launched the Harvard Innovation Lab (i-lab), a start-up incubator designed for students. Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has been pushing for more innovation spaces in the east coast city.

“Let our legacy to each other be launching pads for those who follow,” stated Menino in a January 2010 inaugural address. “Let us show the world that in Boston, history is just a prelude.”

i-lab opened on November 18th. The building has classrooms, academic research resources, and large meeting rooms. The i-lab will also host one-on-one coaching sessions and workshops from the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center Network. Mark Zuckerberg recently visited the i-lab for a tour and approved of its features.
