Barack Obama has joined the social network created by Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) called Google+. The Obama profile is linked to the Obama For America campaign. Steve Grove, head of community partnerships, verified the account.

Don’t get too excited yet though, it is unlikely that Obama will actually see this account for a long time. Obama’s Twitter account existed much before he actually admitted to ever using the service. Status messages on Facebook and tweets sent by the President himself will be initialed “BO.” It is likely that he will do the same for Google+.
