Above is a picture of a camera that fell to the bottom of Deep Bay. The camera has successfully been returned to its original owner because of the honest efforts of a nature photographer named Markus Thompson. Thompson found the Canon EOS 1000D during a scuba dive off the coast of Vancouver. After extracting and cleaning the SD card, he found that it was still functional. A large number of the vacation photos were from August 2010.
i4software has announced that they have made $1 million in revenues for the Flashlight app on the Apple App Store. i4software ironically hit the milestone on Black Friday of this year. The app first went for sale in July 2010 and became the number one selling iOS utilities paid app. Some of the people that have praised the Flashlight app includes police officers, firefighters, nurses, etc. They have said that the Flashlight app has helped prevent injuries and saved lives. Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has put together a video on how they have been improving search since they started. The video highlights some of the company’s milestones in the last 10 years. Russian search engine company Yandex NV (NASDAQ:YNDX) has been having a big week. Last week Yandex announced that they will be the default search engine on Windows Phones in Russia. Earlier this week, Yandex announced that they have acquired mobile software company SPB Software. The price of SPB Software is believed to be around $38 million.
Moxie Marlinspike is best known for creating cryptography software. Some of his software was made independently and others was for his mobile security startup, Whisper Systems. Whisper Systems has been acquired by Twitter and their team will be hired.
Facebook has acquired social networking software company WhoGlue. WhoGlue creates social networking software services for membership organizations including college alumni networks. WhoGlue even filed a patent called “Distributed personal relationship information management system and methods” in 2001, which is 3 years before Facebook launched.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) co-founders Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne had drafted a three-page contract that established Apple Computer Co. The contract was drafted up and signed on April 1, 1976. This contract will be auctioned in New York next month and is expected to receive bids for as high as $150,000 according to Sotheby’s.
Facebook is anticipated to have one of the of the most electrifying IPOs in technology company history. The company is hoping to have a valuation of over $100 billion when they go public and would raise as much as $10 billion or more. Facebook is believed to be targeting their IPO at between April and June 2012.
