BBC Announces iPlayer For iPhone and iPod Touch Coming On December 8, Not Including The U.S. Yet

BBC launched an app for the iPad five months ago and now they have made the iPlayer available on the iPhone and iPod Touch. The iPlayer app is a video-on-demand subscription service that gives international access to BBC programs across the world.

The iPlayer app will be made available on December 8 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, The Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Some of the shows that will be available on the app includes Peep Show, Shameless, Black Books, Green Wing, and Father Ted.

About 35% of iPlayer viewers are watching more than one program per visit and 25% go on to browse different shows. About 75% of subscribers access the app each day.
