12-Year-Old Entrepreneur Dino Zaharakis Launches New Line Of Dock For Tablets and iPhones

Dino Zaharakis is a 12 year old entrepreneur that exhibited his iPad stand at a trade show at the McCormick Center in Chicago and was awarded the “Most Innovative Product.” At age 11, he and his father designed the dzdock One, an iPad stand that was selected as “Top 5 stocking stuffers” by Men’s Health Magazine.

When Zaharakis noticed that most iPad docks and iPhone docks were unable to accomodate devices with a case, he decided to create the dzdock. His goal was to also design his product in the USA. His goals with the dzdock was to design it to have the ability to place and remove a device without disconnecting its cable, hold a device without a skin in portrait and landscape modes, have viewing angles that were optical for video conferencing, accommodate the iPad/Kindle/nook/tablets/iPhones/iPods/etc, and design it in the USA.

Dino came up with the idea when he saw his parents reviewing summer camps on the family iPad. His father started designing an impromptu stand, but he found several design flaws and said that he could do better. His father challenged him and said that if he could design something better, then his dad would buy him a phone. Dino went to work using aluminum stock, a miter saw, and a vise. He made several prototypes and the dzdock One was the best out of all the prototypes. Now you can buy the dzdock for $29.99 on dzdock.com or on Amazon.com. If you buy it from dzdock.com, use the promo code DZPRNEWS to get a discount.
