Google Buys Music Licensing Company RightsFlow
Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has acquired RightsFlow, a New York based music licensing company through the YouTube subsidiary. This acquisition will help Google with their own music store and help YouTube become even more of a go-to place for music videos. YouTube already has a partnership in place with several music labels through the launch of Vevo, but this acquisition will lead to more music label partnerships.
RightsFlow has 30 million songs in their database and is skilled at handling complex music licensing deals. The company knows how to ensure proper copyright and payments to artists and labels.
