British Telecom Suing Google Over 6 Patents

Apple, Oracle, Microsoft, and eBay are all suing Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) over patent infringement against Android. Now British Telecommunications plc have filed a lawsuit against Google over patent infringement against Android.

British Telecom filed its lawsuit this past Thursday with the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. British Telecom is seeking triple damages for willful and deliberate infringement as well as injunction from Google.

“BT brings this action to recover the just compensation it is owed and to prevent Google from continuing to benefit from BT’s ivnentions without authorization,” said British Telecom in a statement.

British Telecom is suing Google while the acquisition of Motorola Mobility is taking place. BT currently has a cross-license deal in place with Motorola Mobility. However BT believes that Motorola does not have any patents that Google can use to effectively hit them back with.
