RadiumOne is an online advertising network company that has acquired Focal Labs, the company that developed the photo sharing and geo location apps Clixtr and PicBounce. Clixtr turns smartphones into “social cameras.” When you are at a birthday party or at a rock concert, photos that you take can be turned into full photo albums using Clixtr.
When photos are taken by people that you know, Clixtr uses the location as the factor to group the photos together. The app uses the phone’s GPS to determine when photos are taken at the same location. The Picbounce app lets you upload a photo from your iPhone to Facebook or Twitter. The Picbounce app has been downloaded over a million times.
RadiumOne uses social data to identify relevant consumers to brands. RadiumOne founder Gurbaksh Chahal calls this method “social retargeting.”
RadiumOne analyzes how users interact with one another on social networks to find out what consumers identify with based on the brand’s customer base. Then they serve ads to this audience across the network of publishers. RadiumOne recently raised $21 million in a new round of funding based on a $200 million valuation.
