Facebook can be sued by people who see ads that show that their “friends” like certain brands. This is based on a California law that regards commercial endorsements according to U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh. Koh refused to dismiss a related lawsuit on December 16th that ruled plaintiffs may pursue claims that the company’s sponsored ads violate state law and are fraudulent.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) supplier Pegatron has reported an explosion that happened in Shanghai over this past weekend. About 61 workers have been injured as a result. Pegatron CFO Charles Lin said that the explosion at the plant belongs to Riteng Computer Accessory Co at the Shanghai Songjiang industrial park. The building did not catch on fire, but 23 of the injured workers had to go to the hospital. Apple is investigating what happened. [Reuters]

Alwaleed is the richest Arab businessman and he considers the investment as a “strategic stake.” Alwaleed is the largest individual invest in Citigroup Inc. He is also a major investor in General Motors and Apple Inc. Twitter is in the process of revamping their user interface for their 100 million daily active users. Twitter is expecting to boost their ad revenue by about 86% next year.

I just registered an account with them and I noticed that they are able to get me an additional $2.00 off from 2 boxes of Pepsi, $1.00 off a bag of Tostitos, 50 cents off Pepperidge Farm Goldfish, etc. from Kroger. Other stores that work with the service include Rite Aid, CVS, Piggly Wiggly, Albertsons, County Market, Food City, Lowes Foods, Jack’s SuperValu, Ralphs, and the list goes on. SavingStar launched in beta this past August and raised $2.3 million in funding from Flybridge Capital Partners, First Round Capital, Founder Collective, and several angel investors.
