About $41 Billion In Gift Cards Have Been Unused Since 2005

Gift cards are one of the most popular forms of gifts during holidays like birthdays, Christmas, and weddings. It turns out that there are $41 billion worth of unused gift cards out there and that has been accumulated since 2005. In 2011, there was about $2 billion in unused cards. This is down from $8 billion in 2007. TowerGroup put together the gift card data. The good news is that 85% of gift cards are used within 65 days. [ABC News]
