Microsoft Challenges Dropbox By Adding Desktop Sync To SkyDrive

Today Microsoft announced two new SkyDrive applications. One of the applications is a Metro-style app that utilizes the Windows 8 user experience and provides access to all SkyDriving files with an organized seamless user interface. The second application seems like a direct challenge to Dropbox as it brings a desktop version of SkyDrive to Windows Explorer. The SkyDrive desktop app allows Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows 8 users to drag-and-drop to upload and download data TO THE CLOUD! Microsoft will support the uploading of large files that are up to 2GB through Explorer. The app will automatically sync changes to and from the SkyDrive. Microsoft also revealed a way to access non-SkyDrive files from PCs using a SkyDrive account. [MSDN]
