Auto-Translate May Be Added To Twitter Soon
A large number of Twitter’s user-base are international and speak foreign languages. Copying and pasting a tweet in a foreign language into Google Translate, Bing Translator, or Babelfish can be tedious. This is why I am excited that Twitter is testing out an auto-translate feature. The feature was rolled out to a certain number of users last week.
“A small percentage of users can see the option to translate the text of a tweet with Bing Translator as part of an experiment,” stated a Twitter spokesperson in an interview with Mashable. “We want to help people connect and discover what’s new — no matter where they are in the world or what languages they speak.”
Some users will be able to click on a non-English tweet and see a translated version of the message in English. Thai website Faceblog.in.th took a screenshot of tweets written in Thai, Japanese, and Korean with a translation below in English. This article was written by Amit Chowdhry.
