Vocus Acquires Acquires E-Mail Marketing Company iContact For $169 Million

Vocus is a cloud-based marketing company that has acquired e-mail marketing services company iContact for $169 million. iContact is primarily used by small and medium sized businesses.

iContact’s email marketing software is known for automating the process of scheduling, sending, and tracking e-mail communications for marketers. iContact’s analytics software allows the marketers to then track the e-mail campaign effectiveness based on what links are being clicked on and what data is being accessed from the e-mail. iContact has raised $50 million in funding from venture capitalists.

iContact has social networking integration and allows users to launch campaigns on Facebook and Twitter. Currently about 70,000 organizations are using iContact.
