Google Wallet To Expand To 10 More Sprint Devices This Year

Google is planning on expanding the tap-and-pay system Google Wallet to ten more Sprint devices this year including the upcoming LG Viper. Google Wallet VP Osama Bedier made the announcement at Mobile World Congress 2012. Google is discussing the service with several other device manufacturers, banks, and financial services.

Google Wallet’s Near Field Communications system is supported by 22 of the largest U.S. retail chains. It allows consumers to make purchases by simply tapping their Android smartphone at 300,000+ MasterCard PayPass enabled merchant terminals.

Google Wallet has support for SingleTap, which allows users to earn reward points and coupons. Tens of thousands of transaction terminals supporting Google Wallet are joining every month. Usage is strongest at convenience stores and fast food restaurants.
