REPORT: Teens Send An Average Of 60 Text Messages Per Day

Pew Research has put together a report that examines what tools teenagers use for communication, particularly mobile devices. The volume of texting among teens has risen from 50 texts a day in 2009 to 60 texts for the median teen text user. Pew Research is basing this on a sample of 799 teens surveyed by Princeton Survey Research Associates International.
– About 23% of kids that are ages 12-17 have a smartphone
– About 31% of kids that are ages 14-17 have a smartphone
– About 8% of kids that are ages 12-13 have a smartphone
