RUMOR: Google Drive Coming In Early April

Google is rumored to be developing an online storage service called GDrive, which would compete head-on with Dropbox. According to sources with GigaOM, the storage service is expected to arrive in early April. The Google Drive service has been a rumor since 2006. Eventually Google came up with Google Docs in 2010.

Google is rumored to be offering 1GB of free space, but will charge more for additional space. Currently Dropbox offers 2GB free. Google’s storage service would come with a local client and a web interface that will look similar to Google Docs.

The service will launch for Google Apps customers and it will be domain specific. The Google Storage service will also have APIs for third party apps.
