Apple released the iPhone over five years ago and the company never offered a stylus or physical control accessories for it. It is likely that back then, Apple would have never predicted that the device would become a gaming machine. Inside of the review of the new iPad on AnandTech.com, Anand said he “know[s] of an internal Apple project to bring a physical controller to market, but whether or not it will ever see the light of day remains to be seen.” Apple is far from releasing this to the market, but it would be an interesting move for them. This would mean that touchscreens may not be the best input method in all situations. However iOS devices have worked with Apple’s Bluetooth keyboards for years and if users are going to buy external hardware accessories, Apple would most likely want consumers to buy it from them.
