Sony plans to start selling Google TV products in Europe this September according to Les Echos. Sony France marketing director Stephane Labrousse said that Sony will sell two devices. This includes a set-top box for €200 ($266) and a box with a Blu-ray player that will sell for €300 ($399). The devices may start selling in Spain, Germany, and the U.K.
The Sony boxes will have a Google Play button on the remote, which will open up the app and content store. The devices will also come with Sony Music Unlimited. Thus far, Google TV has only been available in the U.S. The problem with Google TV sales in the U.S. was that the first batch of devices were too expensive. The next generation of Google TV devices will be substantially cheaper.
