LinkedIn has announced that they are acquiring SlideShare for $119 million. The deal is being made in 45% cash and 55% stock. SlideShare allows people to upload documents on the web and embed them on websites.

YouTube To Spend $200 Million To Promote Premium Channels


On Wednesday night, YouTube hosted a huge event to inform advertisers that they are spending $100 million for their new “channels” as a way of bringing in premium content. Jay-Z, FloRida, Jennifer Beals, the Neon Trees, and Eric Schmidt were in attendance at the event. YouTube also announced that they will be spending $200 million on premium footage across Google’s Content Network to push the channels.

Discovery Communications Acquires Revision3


Discovery Communications has acquired Revision3, a web video startup company founded by Kevin Rose, David Prager, and Jay Adelson. Revision3 produces their own shows like “Tekzilla” and “Epic Meal Time.” Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht used to host a show on Revision3 called “Digg Nation.” Jay Adelson currently hosts a show on Revision3 called “Ask Jay.”

Microsoft Hosting Windows Phone Developer Summit In June


Microsoft Corporation is hosting a Windows Phone developer Summit in June. The company has sent out “Save The Date” invitations to select Windows Phone programmers. The two day summit will be on June 20th and June 21st in San Francisco. There will be an open registration in the coming weeks for developers that have not received an invite. Some developers believe that Microsoft will formally disclose additional information about Windows Phone OS 8.

Zynga Monetizing Draw Something With “Draw This Brand”

Zynga has come up with a clever way to monetize “Draw Something,” the mobile game developed by OMGPOP. Zynga has announced a new game called “Draw This Brand” within the app. You pick a word from a list of three and then create a drawing so a Facebook friend can guess what it is. If they get it right, you win points. The words may include Colonel Sanders or Doritos. The NHL was one of the first ads and they bought terms related to hockey like puck, Zamboni, hat trick, and slap shot.

Judge Rules That You Cannot Be Identified Based On IP Address


Judge Gary Brown has ruled that an IP address cannot be used alone to connect illegal downloads to a specific person. IP addresses are generally known as being associated with a connection, but not a human being. Dan Loeb Confirms Yahoo! CEO Scott Thompson Did Not Have A Computer Science Degree

Dan Loeb of Third Point is known for his proxy battle against Yahoo!’s board of directors. Recently in a letter to Yahoo!’s board of directors, Loeb wrote that Yahoo! CEO Scott Thompson has inaccurately added a computer science degree to his resume. Yahoo! confirmed that Loeb is right and they called it an “inadvertent error” according to AllThingsD.
