Apple Inc. has filed a claim with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to gain control of the iPhone5.com domain name. The WIPO is assessing compliance of Apple’s claim. The domain name iPhone5.com is currently being used to host a small discussion forum to discuss the “iPhone 5.” This forum launched in October 2010 after the debut of the iPhone 4. It is pretty interesting to see how Apple has not purchase domain names related to their upcoming products ahead of time. Apple did not get their hands on the domain name iPhone4S.com until a few weeks after the phone debuted last October.
