Apple Signs Deal With Pirq
Apple Inc. has signed a partnership with Pirq, a mobile app that offers “daily deals.” Pirq has been chosen to be the exclusive mobile dining deals app for Apple employees based in Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and Mountain View. Pirq CEO James Sun said that the deal will help accelerate their expansion. The Pirq smartphone app will be offered through an Apple employee benefits program that is run by Passport Unlimited.
“It’s also a lot easier to sign up restaurants when you can say Apple has agreed to offer this dining app to their employees at work. Every restaurant wants Apple-like employees to come dine with them,” said Sun. Sun is known as being a finalist on “The Apprentice.” He launched the Pirq service in Seattle last September and provided discounts of 20-50% at participating restaurants.
Pirq’s deal with Apple expands them from Seattle to California. Apple is among several companies working with Passport to provide discount discount programs for employees. Passport’s clients include Microsoft, HP, Intel, Qualcomm, and Oracle. This article was written by Amit Chowdhry. You can follow me at @amitchowdhry or on Google+ at +AmitChowdhry
